Of late, the U.S. - Afghan relationship has been walking a fine line. The U.S. military's good intentions of assisting with stability and development have been tainted by a number of actions that question if our involvement is a positive thing for Afghanistan and its people. The burning of Qurans, the pictures of U.S. Marines urinating on the dead and, finally, the U.S. soldier who went rogue, killing 16 Afghan villagers became major news stories that have understandably strained relations. However, many argue that Afghanistan has enjoyed many benefits as a result of American involvement.
