The Friends of the Richardson Library’s 2014 InPerson Author Lecture will feature North Texas author and dog trainer Susannah Charleson. Charleson will tell the stories of training and working with her dogs, which serve on search and rescue teams and provide mental health service to the disabled and for therapy work in the wake of catastrophe or trauma. Puzzle, Charleson’s search partner, was the star of her first book, Scent of the Missing: Love and Partnership with a Search and Rescue Dog. Her other dogs, including the rescued Jake Piper, are featured in The Possibility Dogs: What a Handful of “Unadoptables” Taught Me About Service, Hope, & Healing, released in June 2013. At least one of her dogs will appear with Charleson at the InPerson lecture. For more information about Charleson, visit her website, www.susannahcharleson.com.
