Tuesday, August 6

12:15 Jessica –WRR intern. Will talk about her experience at WRR this summer and the Mayor's program that brought her here. Also her Shakespeare exposure this summer in the Junior Players.

 

12:30 Angela Livesay – DISD Elementary Music Teacher for 20 years talking about music ed in our schools today

 

12:45 Chuck Moore, Executive Director of Greater Dallas Youth Orchestra. Franklin Jia, 16 year-old clarinetist performed.

 

Wednesday, August 7

12:15 Alethea Pettinger – violinist and recent grad from SMU's music therapy department. Will talk about this alternative career in music to traditional performance or music ed degrees and about her new job as music therapist at a hospice in Dallas.

 

12:30 Stacey Dunn and Marco Petrelli from Southwest High School in FWSD – teachers in the F.A.M.E. Goldstar music and performance program at the school. Brought music of jazz band, band and contemporary music program which I played on the air.

 

12:45 CHOIR DIRECTORS OF NORTH TEXAS

Kathy Hackett- Plano West Senior High School Choir

1. Director of the Texas Music Adjudicators Association- Vocal Division

2. Choir was recently selected to represent Texas at the 2014 South Western American Choral Directors Convention in Little Rock, Arkansas

 

Dr. Mark Rohwer- Flower Mound High School Choir

1. Severed at a state officer for the Texas Choral Directors Association

2. Choirs have on numerous occasions performed for Texas Music Educators Association as well as for the South Western American Choral Directors Association

 

Gloria Stephens- Booker T. Washington School of Performing Arts -Choir

1. Servered as an officer for the SWACDA

2.Choirs have on numerous occasions performed for Texas Music Educators Association as well as for the South Western American Choral Directors Association

 

Cheryl Wilson- Garland High School Choir

1. Choirs have on numerous occasions performed for state and national conventions

2. Choir was recently selected to perform for the 2014 Texas Music Educators Association Convention

 

Robin Brockway Nichols- Newman Smith High School Choir

1. Most recently voted to server asa state officer for the Texas Choral Directors Association

2. Choir has performed for Texas Music Educators Association State Convention

 

Derrick Brookins- Plano Senior High School Choir

1. Served as an officer for the SWACDA ( South Western American Choral Directors Association)

2. Choirs have performed for the Texas Music Educators Association Convention

3. Choirs have twice been selected to represent our state at the American Choral Directors Association- National Convention. Most recently for the 2013 ACDA, in Dallas, TX

 

Thursday, August 8th

12:15 – Barbara Woodring, orchestra Director at Hillcrest HS, DISD

 

12:45 Matthew Ho – NoteStar Piano Competition winner. Performing on both the piano and violin. Will interview re competition prep and experience and how it has changed his life and talk to him about his musical studies in and out of school.

 

Friday, August 9th

 

12:15 Sarah Klein - WRR intern talking about her experience at WRR this summer and her upcoming enrollment at Booker T. Her aspirations as a conductor and supplemental education at SMU

 

12:30 Dorothy Houck – Marcus HS, Lewisville ISD math teacher talking about how she uses classical music in her HS math classroom

 

 

12:45 North Texas Youth Orchestra, Plano – Julianne Booth,Artistic Director and Mike Chang, Personnel Manager coming to be interviewed. Performer was Zoe Toureau – 17 year-old flutist from Melissa HS.
